Will it run on your device? If your phone runs Android 4.4 or newer, you're covered. That's most phones from 2013 onwards. For smooth gameplay — especially in the Deep Dark — we recommend at least 2GB RAM. Older devices will run it, but expect frame drops with lots of mobs or particles on screen.

Getting Minecraft on your phone takes about 2-3 minutes. Here's the quick rundown.
minecraft-1.19.apk.
Quick tip: After installing, you can turn Unknown Sources back off in Settings. Better for security, especially if you've got kids using the device.
Storage heads up: The download is 165 MB, but Minecraft grows as you play. Exploring new areas generates chunks that get saved to your device. After a few weeks of playing, don't be surprised if the game folder hits 500 MB or more.

So what's actually new in 1.19? Quite a bit. This is "The Wild Update" — and yeah, it gets wild.
The headline feature is the Deep Dark biome. It's this creepy underground area that spawns below Y-level 0 — way down there. You'll know it when you see the Sculk blocks covering everything. The whole place has this eerie vibe, and there's a reason: the Warden lives here.
Speaking of which — the Warden is no joke. This thing has no eyes but reacts to every sound you make. Walk too loud? It finds you. Break a block? It finds you. Fair warning: it can two-shot you even in full Netherite armor.
Here's the thing though — you're not supposed to fight it. Mojang made it drop almost nothing on purpose (just 5 XP and a Sculk Catalyst). The intended gameplay is sneaking past it, not combat.
Down in the Deep Dark you'll find Ancient Cities. Abandoned structures with loot chests, but they're guarded by Sculk Sensors and Shriekers. Make too much noise and, well... you've met the Warden.
The Wild Update dropped June 7, 2022. This page covers version 1.19.0.20.
We ran it through VirusTotal — came back clean across all 70+ scanners. The APK signature checks out as valid Mojang certificate. That said, always double-check permissions after you install. Minecraft needs storage access (for saving worlds) and network access (for multiplayer). If it asks for your contacts or SMS... something's wrong. The file here is 164.57 MB, which matches the official Bedrock Edition size.
You'll need Android 4.4 (KitKat) or higher. That covers pretty much any phone made after 2013. Performance-wise, you want at least 2GB of RAM for smooth gameplay. Older devices might run it but expect some lag, especially when exploring new chunks or dealing with lots of mobs on screen. The Deep Dark biome with all its Sculk blocks can be demanding.
Short answer: don't fight it. Seriously. The Warden can kill you in two hits even with full Netherite armor. It reacts to sound — walking, breaking blocks, even opening chests triggers it. Your best bet is sneaking (Shift key) and moving slowly. Wool blocks don't make noise when you walk on them or place them. If you trigger a Sculk Shrieker four times, the Warden spawns. At that point, just run.
Yes, but with a catch. Your existing explored areas stay the same — you won't suddenly find Deep Dark biomes under your base. New features only generate in chunks you haven't explored yet. So to find the Warden, Ancient Cities, and Mangrove Swamps, you'll need to venture into uncharted territory. Your builds, items, and progress carry over just fine though. Back up your worlds before updating, just to be safe.
The download is about 165 MB, but the game grows as you play. Every time you explore a new area, Minecraft generates and saves those chunks to your device. After a few weeks of active playing — especially if you're into long-distance exploration — you might see the game folder hit 500 MB to 1 GB. Resource packs and texture packs add to this. To free up space, you can delete old worlds you're not using anymore from the game's settings.
Most players: Download the latest version at the top of the list. It has all the newest features, bug fixes, and security patches.
Security note: Older versions may have unpatched vulnerabilities. Use the latest version unless you have a specific reason not to.
