Associator

Associator is a program to associate file types (by extension) with programs. Set file types to have icons. Associate protocols with the programs.

• Associator launches instantly. (With Windows it takes a long time to load.)
• Associator can add programs to the explorer context menu "Open with": green EXECUTION button / context menu / Add to "Open with"
• Associator prompts you to enter only the file type extensions you want and work with that list - nothing extra. (Windows gives you an awfully big list of ALL file types, where you have to manually select the necessary ones from the pile - uncomfortable!!!)
• Associator associates the whole typed list with one program in one click. (In the Windows one, you cannot associate several types at once - only one at a time)
• Associator has templates: ready-made type lists, for example: file types related to music, video, text... Templates can be edited. These templates are stored in exts.ini in the program folder.
• You may enter the file types for association manually or drag-n-drop the files of the desired type to the list of types.
• Drag & Drop support.

You can drag and drop into the program: 1) the file types you want to associate, 2) the program you want to associate with, 3) the icon you want to assign to the associated file types.

You can click on the following controls in the program: 1) file types list: to add types, 2) program address: to specify the program you want to associate with, 3) icon button: to select the icon that you want to associate with the file types.

If you drag and drop a file already associated in the system into the program address field, then this field will show the address of the program with which the file being dragged and dropped has already been associated.

• You can assign any icon to file types: press the icon button and select the desired icon, or just throw the icon on the button. You can also iconize separately without association by clearing the program address, selecting the desired icon and pressing the "execute" button. You can also associate separately without iconization: on the icon button in the context menu, click on "clear icon".
• Portability. (No special installation required: just copy the exe file. All settings are stored in the settings.ini file in the program folder) #Portable
• Associator runs under Windows.
• There is a folder "Restore reg associations" in the program folder - in this folder you will find reg files that will help you to restore the factory associations of files, such as: exe, ico, lnk, url
• In associator when iconizing ico files they are not assigned to the specified icon, ico files always show their internal icon (like exe)
