Yandex is negotiating the sale of a branded smartphone with retailers

Many people have probably heard about the fact that Yandex has started to create its own smartphone. Finally, the device, known as Yandex.Phone, is ready to enter the market, and the manufacturer has begun negotiations with potential partners to sell the gadget.Vedomosti, citing its own sources, reports that Yandex is discussing sales of its own smartphone with retail chains MTS, MegaFon, Vimpelcom and the M.Video-Eldorado group. Unfortunately, it has not yet been possible to reach an agreement with the partners, because Yandex requires minimum markups on its smartphone, which, according to rumors, should not exceed 3-8%. Of course, such a condition does not suit retailers. It is worth adding that the cost of the smartphone has already become higher than expected. If previously it was reported that Yandex.Phone would cost the buyer 14,990 rubles, now, due to the rise in the dollar exchange rate, the price tag of the gadget rose to 17-20 thousand rubles. Earlier it was reported that the company planned to introduce the first batch of 20,000 smartphones in Russia in autumn, but due to the lack of agreements with retail chains, the start of sales may be postponed to a later date.
