3DMark06 is a program for running 3D graphics tests and measuring graphics card performance.
Unlike its predecessor, 3DMark06 got improved tests with more light sources, shadows and complex geometry. But the key difference is support for DirectX 9.0c and the use of ShaderModel 3.0 and HDR (High Dynamic Range) in two graphics tests. Another interesting change occurred with the calculation of the final performance statistics. Now, the program takes into account not only the graphics card performance, but also the CPU, as the processor has a significant impact on performance in games.
