Active Directory Explorer is an LDAP-compatible implementation of Microsoft directory service for Windows NT operating systems. Active Directory allows administrators to use group policies to provide uniform configuration of a user's work environment, deploy software on multiple computers through group policies or through System Center Configuration Manager (formerly Microsoft Systems Management Server), install operating system, application, and server software updates on all computers in the network using the Windows Server Update Service. Active Directory stores data and environment settings in a centralized database. Active Directory networks can vary in size from a few hundred to several million objects.
