CCleaner for Windows

CCleaner is an assistant for cleaning unnecessary and unused files from your system. By clearing workspace on your hard drive, it improves performance. General information

The program was released in 2003. Since then, it has been distributed conditionally free of charge in two categories: for home use and for business. CCleaner was originally designed for the Windows operating system. Then, because of the great popularity among users, the developers created a version of the program for other operating systems. Currently, the application supports:

• macOS (from 10.6 to 10.11);
• Android (from 4.0.3 and higher).

The application has a simple and easy to use interface. The main functions are put on the desktop screen and divided into small subgroups, which allows the user not to get confused with possible actions.

The task of CCleaner is to remove

• "junk files;
• Temporary browser files created when browsing online;
• Errors and non-working Windows registry entries.

The utility's functions are divided into three groups

• "Cleanup", which is responsible for performing a cleanup in the OS after system and third-party applications are running;
• "Registry", which is designed to check the registry for errors;
• "Service", which presents additional features.

The tools presented in the "Service" section complement the main functions of the application and improve the quality of the computer's work

• "Remove programs" - function for uninstalling applications that "failed" the standard installer;
• "autoload" - an extended version of the same Windows feature. Enables and disables autoloading;
• "Browser add-ons" - a summary table of all the extensions that run with browsers;
• "disk analysis" - a tool to determine how much free disk space each category of files available for classification takes up on your hard drive;
• "search for duplicates" - a tool that can be used to determine if there are duplicate files on your computer;
• "system restore" - a function to manage your computer's restore points;
• "erase disks" - a tool for erasing data from disks.
