ExifTool is a combination of a Perl library and a command line application designed to read, write and edit metadata in a wide variety of files.
The application supports many different metadata formats, including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AFCP and ID3 as well as metadata recorded by Canon, Casio, FLIR, FujiFilm, GE, HP, JVC / Victor, Kodak, Leaf, Nikon, Nintendo, Minolta / Konica-Minolta, Olympus / Epson, Panasonic / Leica, Pentax / Asahi, Phase One, Reconyx, Ricoh, Samsung, Sanyo, Sigma / Foveon and Sony.
With ExifTool you can also geotag images from GPS tracking logs (with time offset correction), create a track log from geotagged images, rename files (by date or other metadata), copy metadata between files (even in different formats) and read/write XMP data.
