gnuplot

gnuplot is a program that plots functions based on experimental results and visualizes diverse data. Its capabilities are used in packages for complex engineering, mathematical and scientific calculations, including Matlab, Maxima, Scilab, and GNU Octave.

The application uses a private license allowing new releases to be published as patches to the source code. You can download Gnuplot for free.

Program features

• The application is a portable graphical tool with a built-in command line;
• The language of the utility is case-sensitive, commands and names in lower-case, not the same as the same, but with capital letters;
• Abbreviations are allowed. The first three letters of commands are used as abbreviations;
• Separators and comments in the code are used;
• Script files are used, which document the standard sequence of actions performed when drawing graphics. Scripts are reproduced using scripts;
• The package allows you to create a set of data files for plotting graphs;
• Styles of building charts are discussed in the reference documents. The software distinguishes between function graphs, for which the most appropriate styles are set by default;
• Graphs are displayed on the monitor screen. Export to the graphical files *.PNG, *.EPS, *.SVG, *.JPEG is possible;
• The software knows how to create automatically code for the LaTeX computer layout macro package, applying fonts and formulas of this macro extension set.
