PdfMasher is a tool that allows you to convert your Portable Document Format (PDF) documents to MOBI or EPUB formats for your ebooks. Most e-books support PDF, but there are often problems when reading because we cannot control the font size. In many cases, we have to use scaling, which is not always convenient. Another disadvantage of using PDFs on e-books is the lack of annotations.
Existing tools for converting PDF files to e-book format try to determine the role of each text element in a PDF document, in all but the simplest cases they fail.
PdfMasher asks the user about the role of each piece of text and does so effectively. It's possible to sort elements by Y-position, select the ones you want, and mark the ones you ignore and they won't show up in the final HTML file. If your PDF file has footnotes, sorting text elements will gather them together, move them to the end of the document, and PdfMasher will create hyperlinks to the footnotes.
