UNetbootin is an extremely useful program for computer wizards that will eliminate the need to lug around stacks of CDs/DVDs. Its main function is to create bootable Linux USB flash drives. It supports 40 of the most popular distributions and many versions of each of them.

The program does not need to be installed, so you can carry it around on your flash drive or hard drive. Once launched, it is immediately ready for work and offers two options: to download the desired distribution/version from the Internet, or to use an existing ISO image.

Once you have selected the Linux distribution you want, you will see that the program provides a link to its homepage, a short description and a short note about it.

Once you have made your choice, all that remains is to choose the media on which the distribution is to be written. This can be a USB flash drive or an external hard disk.

In addition, UNetbootin can be used to create bootable flash drives with various tools, such as Parted Magic, FreeDOS, F-Secure Rescue CD, Super Grub Disk, Backtrack, NTPasswd and others.

In addition, using this program you can "install" the distribution on your computer. In that case the files from the ISO image of the selected distribution will be copied to your hard drive and the computer will start up just as if you were using bootable media with that distribution.

To do that, just select the desired distribution and specify on which disk or partition to install it.
