VMware Workstation Player is a program that allows you to run multiple virtual machines in parallel on one computer.
VMware Player has a user-friendly interface and allows you to run any Windows system, including Windows 8 developer release, Google Chrome OS and any version of Linux, including distributions oriented to ARM and other non-PC platforms. The program can also be used to run an isolated system, for software tests or for secure web surfing.
The main difference between the free (non-commercial use) VMware Player and the paid VMware Workstation is the lack of functions for creating virtual machines.
VMware Player cannot create new virtual machines, but it allows you to run previously created machines of different formats - VMware Workstation, GSX Server, ESX Server, Microsoft VirtualPC and Symantec LiveState Recovery.
