MediaTek unveils affordable 5G processor

The Dimensity 800 chip was announced at the end of last year. However, at that time MediaTek concealed the characteristics of the novelty. It was clear only that it supports 5G.

Now the company has published all the specs. The Dimensity 800 is based on 7nm technology. The platform is based on eight computing cores. Namely, a quartet of Cortex-A55 and a quartet of Cortex-A76.

The maximum clock frequency reaches 2 GHz. There is also an integrated graphics ARM Mali-G77 MC9. You will not have to complain about "brakes" in games. Their performance increases the function HyperEngine.

Separately, it is worth noting the AI unit. It is called APU 3.0 and performs tasks that require artificial intelligence. As for 5G, Dimensity 800 works in SA and NSA modes. In addition, there is Two Carrier Agregation (2CC CA).

The SoC from MediaTek is suitable for phones with Full HD+ screens. Compatibility with panels up to 90 Hz is guaranteed. If we talk about the cameras, they can be dual (32 MP + 16 MP).

In the case of single lenses, 64 MP modules are allowed. The said allows you to hope for great pictures. Dimensity 800 offers HDR, digital noise correction, white balance and exposure.

The above are just the key features. The full list of "talents" is wider. The mass production of the Dimensity 800 will start in the first half of 2020. Smartphones based on it are not far off. They will belong to the middle class.
