"Scary technology" GPU Turbo will be added to Huawei smartphones in a firmware update

14 June 2018

As many have probably heard, last week Huawei finally unveiled its "scary technology". It turned out to be GPU Turbo, which, according to the developers, will increase graphics gas pedal performance by 60% while reducing power consumption by 30%. Finally, there was the first information about the timing and methods of its distribution.

As previously reported, the first smartphone to get GPU Turbo support will be Honor Play. Nevertheless, Huawei representatives promised that the new technology will also be available for already released gadgets. The fact is that GPU Turbo does not require any special "stuffing". The technology is fully implemented at the software level and, therefore, can and necessarily will be added to the previously released devices in the upcoming firmware updates.

It also became known which of the already released gadgets will be the first to receive a corresponding update. It will turn out to be the Huawei Mate 10. The update will be available at the end of June. But the most curious thing is that previously we could only guess about whether Huawei smartphones will receive support for the new technology, because representatives of the company only announced the availability of their "scary technology" for Honor gadgets. It seems that now this question falls away by itself.

In addition, a short list of compatible smartphones and a schedule for the release of updates has already been published:

June - Mate 10, Honor V10;

July - P20 Series, Mate RS Porsche Design, Nova 2s, Honor 10, MediaPad M5;

August - Nova 3e, Enjoy 8 Plus, Enjoy 7S, Maimang 6, Honor 9 Lite, Honor Play 7X;

September - Mate 9 Series;

October - P10 Series, Honor 9, Honor V9.

Release of the corresponding update for other gadgets can be expected not earlier than November.
