Description

3D-Coat - the goal of the program is primarily to detail and texture a model that has already been given a rough shape in another 3D package.

The main features of 3D-Brush:

  • Input is an OBJ file of 1-100 thousand polygons, preferably with UV-mapping, the output is either a 3D model of 1-10 million polygons or textures of color, normals, displacement, transparency and gloss. The maximum texture size is 4096 by 4096. Completely seamless texturing.
  • Everything you used to do in 2D can now be done in 3D - editing with layers, cloning surface areas, transforming the pattern on the surface, Copy/Paste, filling closed areas, gradient filling, filling the area inside the contour, dimming, lightening, smoothing, sharpening and so on.
  • Ability to draw relief details, color, gloss, and transparency on the model surface.
  • Smaller geometric details are automatically drawn on the normal map, and larger ones modify the geometry. So, although the screen shows an object of 40-80 thousand polygons, it looks like 5-10 million polygons due to the detailed normal map.
  • You can fix several points on the surface of the model and pull on one of them, so that the model will deform smoothly. For example it's easy to make a model smile or enlarge an ear by just pulling on it, fixing the head.
  • It's easy to write text however you want, even wrapping text around the 3D model.
  • Closed areas can be filled with fractals and materials that contain depth, color and glitter. Material can be applied not only from the camera, but also using cubic mapping.
  • You can transfer details to a 3D model directly from a photo.
  • You can draw not only with a pen, but also with an outline, a rectangle, a line connecting two points or a spline curve. This allows you to draw not only soft organic shapes, but also strict, smooth man-made shapes.
  • Supports objects with multiple textures.
