Amarok

Amarok is a program for playing audio files and managing your music collection.

It uses KDE (kdelibs) for its work, but is not officially part of any KDE component and is released independently of it.

Some features:

• a system for managing album artwork and the ability to automatically download it from Amazon;
• displaying information from Wikipedia (in your chosen language) about the artist of a song or album;
• automatic download of song lyrics from various sources with the ability to add your own Ruby-based search scripts;
• move and rename files based on their tagged data;
• filters in collection (new songs, favorite songs...);
• 2 options for rating songs: automatic (hundred-point scale) and manual (ten-point scale);
• ten equalizer positions;
• wizard for easy program and collection setup;
• integration with iPod, iRiver, iFP, njb and USB devices;
• podcast support;
• quick disc recording with K3b;
• customizable color schemes. Context browser can be customized with CSS;
• large tag dialog for different types of audio files (WMA, MP4/AAC, MP3, RealMedia) with MusicBrainz support;
• database selection for collections (SQLite3, MySQL and PostgreSQL);
• animated image in the system tray, displaying the playback progress and allowing for their control;
• KIO support for xine;
• Last.fm support. You can quickly create a dynamic list using this service;
• a powerful scripting interface and DCOP support;
• support for statistics;
• external browser support;
• support for converting Audio CDs to one of the compressed formats with Konqueror or embedded file browser;
• support for multiple sound engines;
• support for Cue sheet;
• experimental support for advanced tagging features (ATF). Creates a unique number for each file, allowing Amarok to display song statistics even if it has moved within the file system. This feature is unique to Amarok to date.
