Audacious is an open-source music player that allows you to listen to audio files in various formats, create playlists, and edit metadata. It supports playback of pause tracks and Winamp skins.
The player is portable, so you can put it on a USB flash drive, or other external media containing music, and run it on any computer.
Audacious has two types of interface: Winamp-like and GTK+-based. The former is compact in size, yet offers all the playback controls, an equalizer and a playlist manager. It comes with several skins, but you can install new ones (in WSZ format).
The GTK+-based interface offers an intuitive design. It supports tabs where you can open different playlists and switch between them. The player remembers open tabs when you exit.
You can add music to a playlist by simply dragging and dropping. The player supports music in MP3, AAC, FLAC, SHN, WMA, WAV or MIDI format. In addition, it can play online audio via links and CDs.
