I strongly do not recommend it to do repairs, and check it on the contrary I recommend, and not the version of XP, but the one that will show that there are errors, such as a version from Windows7. For XP there is a solution Auslogics Disk Defrag - it is able after checking to show a message if there are errors or not.
The problem is something else, its fixing is a trivial deletion of files, although the files themselves are completely intact, and deleted because the database file, in that database has an error and it is associated with a record of the file, perhaps it is stored outside the database or record contains an error. Then everything is simple program will delete without the possibility of restoring the file, one just one record can delete notepad .txt file or .rar file in a half gigabyte. Usually there are a lot of records, from 5 to 80 I came across.
So deleted documents, I figured it out, decided to give a heads up. The salvation is transferring files, formatting the problem drive, then transferring the file back there. The system of course will have to be reinstalled.
This is the law.
Is there a replacement for chkdsk that will show which files the erroneous write refers to?
