FileInsight is a program designed specifically for security specialists to help analyze files. It can be used to see the internal structure of an executable file, analyze it, find vulnerabilities and determine the method of malicious code distribution.
The program's interface is intuitive. All the tools are divided into tabs and well structured. The file editor field occupies a large part of the window and is compatible with JavaScript and Python. You can open a file in the editor or create a new one. Different types of files are supported, including executable files, etc.
When you open a file with FileInsight, you will see the hex code and overall structure of the file. The program gives information about entry points, sections, instructions, libraries etc. It also shows all the variables and their type and size. It also has a code generator and decoder that let you parse keys and analyze and manipulate data.
The editor supports different encoding modes and includes a built-in encoding converter. It is also endowed with a search engine and allows bookmarking.
By default, the program comes bundled with two plugins. The first is the "setByteAt" script for string processing, and the second is a plugin for generating an anomaly diagram. In addition, the functionality of the program can be extended with custom plugins, which are written in the Python programming language.
