Planeshift MMORPG A cross-platform fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game. The game is free to play, with no subscription fees, no premium upgrades, and no advertising on the site or in-game.

The world of PlaneShift is located inside a giant stalactite called Iliacum, divided into 8 levels, of which the bottom two are flooded. Life is possible thanks to a giant crystal called the Azure Sun, which draws its light from the planet's surface. PlaneShift currently has 12 races available to play, each with their own house and characteristics.

Many different races inhabit Iliakum. Players can create characters belonging to any of the races: Xacha or Ilian (humans), Noltrir or Demorian (elves), Stonecutters or Blacksmiths (dwarves), unearthly Lemurs, Cranes, creatures of stone, Diaboli, a devil-like race, Enkidukai, a race of feline humanoids, Clearos, winged reptiles, or Innwin, numerous descendants of Elves and Diaboli. They are all available to play, but 3D models are not available for all of them.

Planeshift magic includes several different "Paths" (Schools): the Crystal Path, the Red Path, the Brown Path, the Azure Path, the Blue Path, and the Dark Path. Casting spells requires combinations of special magical items called symbols.

About a hundred quests have been implemented so far, although some of them may contain bugs. Player characters communicate with computer characters by typing words and phrases rather than choosing lines from a list. Figuring out what should be said to a non-player character to move forward in a quest is quite difficult for many players.
