SAS.Planet is a program designed to download high resolution satellite maps provided by such services as Google Maps, the "Kosmosnimki" project, Yandex.maps, Yahoo!, VirtualEarth, Gurtam, OpenStreetMap, eAtlas and others, but unlike these services, all the maps you download will remain on your computer and you can view them even without connecting to the Internet. In addition to satellite maps it is possible to work with the political, landscape, combined maps, as well as the map of the moon and Mars.

Loading maps is carried out both by selecting a certain area (possibly non-rectangular) and in the process of moving around the map. Maps are frequently updated - the program will allow you to download only the newest ones.

In addition to viewing and downloading, the program implements the following useful functions

• Work with the GPS-receiver;
• Routing;
• Distance measurement;
• Display files KML;
• Support for Panoramio service;
• Layer fill map generation - this function allows you to see areas on the map that you have already loaded in the cache, or vice versa - that you do not have;
• Saving part of the map in one image, which you can view and process in any graphic editor, as well as use in other GIS applications, such as OziExplorer (for which the program will create a georeference file);
• You can save places of interest and then easily find them, and make them always appear on the map;
• View Map - helps you easily find the location of the place you are currently viewing and quickly jump to any other place on the map;
• Viewing the map in full-screen mode - which is especially handy when the screen resolution is low;
• The conversion from one layer of all the previous ones - allows you to significantly reduce your Internet traffic, for example, you can download your city on 18 scale only, and all the previous ones to form on its base;
• Ability to export maps to a format supported by iPhone maps;
• Capable of exporting maps in a format supported by mobile Yandex.Maps 3rd version;
• Uploading and displaying Wikimapia objects;
• Search for locations by means of Google and Yandex;
• Adding custom maps.
