ShareEnum

File shares are often not given the attention they deserve when dealing with the security of computer networks running Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems. Security systems often have the characteristic flaw of giving users access to file shares without providing a sufficient level of protection, allowing unauthorized users to view sensitive files. The system has no built-in means of generating lists of network-visible file shares with their security settings, but ShareEnum fills this gap and allows you to block network file shares.

When you start ShareEnum, it scans all the computers that are part of its domains and displays a list of file and print shares and their security settings. To do this, the program uses the NetBIOS protocol list generation features. Since only the domain administrator has the ability to view all network resources, ShareEnum is most effective when run from a domain administrator account.
