The Excel Viewer allows you to open, view, and print Excel workbooks even if you do not have Excel installed on your computer. You can also copy data from the Excel Viewer to other programs. However, operations such as changing data, saving a book, or creating a new book are not available. This downloadable component is intended to replace Excel 97 Viewer and all previous versions of Excel Viewer.
If the book you want to view is stored in Windows Live SkyDrive, you do not need to download the viewer. SkyDrive includes an Excel Web App that lets you open the book in a web browser. You can even edit the book if you have permission in the browser. You can easily save and share your book in SkyDrive by sending the link to Hotmail. Sign in to Hotmail, compose a new e-mail message, and select "Office documents" to download the book. A link to the book is included in the message.
