Apple patented a flexible iPhone

18 October 2018

It is no secret that the manufacturers' race to release the first flexible smartphone is in full swing. It involves companies such as Huawei, Samsung, Xiaomi and Oppo. It seems that this list will be added to Apple.

It became known that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has registered another patent for a flexible smartphone from Apple. Unlike past developments of the Cupertino giant, the flexible screen will be installed on the body part, overlapping the hinge. It is interesting that if you believe the figure attached to the patent, the device can be folded in three times, bending it in two places.

Recall that Apple already uses flexible displays in its smartphones, starting with the iPhone X. True, the screens are bent under the body to provide a frameless design. The emergence of the new patent could mean the imminent arrival on the market of a truly flexible iPhone. On the other hand, according to various sources, Apple will not release such a smartphone in the near future, but will wait for user reaction to similar devices released by competitors.

Whether Apple will adopt the successes of its competitors or join the race and try to be the first to present an innovative product to the world - time will tell.
