As many of you have probably heard, until recently there were talks about the sale of HTC's mobile division to the American giant Google. The companies finally announced an agreement.According to the agreement reached, some HTC employees, including those who participated in the development of Pixel gadgets, will move to Google. It is expected that they will be able to help the company in creating and developing innovative products. Also, IT-giant is getting a non-exclusive license for a number of developments of famous smartphone maker. As for HTC, the company will not only get an opportunity to improve its financial performance, but also will retain its brand and will be able to continue to produce mobile devices. Moreover, the announcement of three of them, codenamed Ocean Master, Ocean Harmony and Ocean Lite, will take place before the end of the year. However, it is expected that the main focus of the Taiwanese company will work in the field of virtual reality, including the HTC Vive helmet. Google's recent experience with such acquisitions cannot be called successful. In 2012, the company bought Motorola Mobility for $ 12.5 billion, however, after about two years, sold the division to China's Lenovo for only $ 2.91 billion, although the amount of the deal to acquire part of the HTC was more modest and amounted to $ 1.1 billion, its completion is scheduled for early 2018, when all necessary permits from the regulatory authorities. We can only hope that the current deal will be profitable for both parties.
