Google replaced Android Pay with a new payment system

21 February 2018

Many people have probably heard that Google will merge Wallet and Android Pay. The company shared plans to do so earlier this year. It seems that the IT giant has moved on from words to deeds.

Now, when trying to go to the Android Pay site, users will go to Google Pay page, which contains detailed information about the new payment service. In addition, the corresponding mobile application has also undergone changes. It has also received a new name - Google Pay. As for Google Wallet service, it has been renamed to Google Pay Send. As before, it will be intended to carry out money transfers between users. But rebranding of the latter service will hardly be noticed by our compatriots: as before, it will be available only in the U.S. and the UK.

Of course, Google Pay, like its predecessor, Android Pay, will be available in Russia. The company is already working on integrating support for the service into all its products. It is expected that it will be possible to use it not only to pay for various purchases on websites, applications and retail stores, but also to pay for travel on public transport. In addition, the app will be able to save both payment, rewards and other types of cards.

The replacement of Android Pay with Google Pay has already begun. The corresponding update will become available to everyone in the near future.
