A new single-crystal platform Snapdragon 730 released in two versions at once

10 April 2019

This platform has been promised in smartphones since last year. However, according to official information, smartphones based on Qualcomm's new single-chip systems will be released only in mid-2019.

According to some reports, the Snapdragon 730 is an improved version of the Snapdragon 710. In fact, the two platforms have no differences in video decoding capabilities and RAM support. At the same time, they are equipped with the same LTE model - Snapdragon X15. What are the differences?

Snapdragon 730 is made by a thinner technical processor - 8 nanometer LPP. The platform is more power efficient, unlike the past Snapdragon 710 - 10 nanometers.

The difference between the platforms is also in the CPU and the graphics card. The Snapdragon 730's CPU has two and four cores - a 2.2GHz Kryo 470 and a 1.8GHz Kryo 470, respectively. The GPU is Adreno 618.

The image processor has also been updated. The Spectra 250 is now replaced by the Spectra 350. Accordingly, there are integrated sensors for higher resolution images - one at 36 megapixels or two at 22 megapixels each. The digital signal processor has been replaced from Hexagon 685 to Hexagon 688.

Developers noted that the Snapdragon 730 has a 35% increase in CPU.

Snapdragon 730G is a version designed for gaming smartphones. The letter G here stands for "Gaming" - gaming. It supports screens with a resolution up to 1440p.

The first smartphone models with new single-chip systems inside are promised as early as mid-2019.
