Rollback to Windows Phone 8.1 causes inability to log in to Microsoft account

07 February 2017
Some users of Microsoft's mobile operating system report being unable to sign in to their account after rolling back from Windows 10 Mobile to Windows Phone 8.1. This significantly reduces the capabilities of the mobile device, making it almost useless for many users. The problems are observed mainly by users who have used the official tool from Microsoft: Windows Device Recovery Tool to return to the old version of the mobile operating system. When trying to log in to their account, users receive an error: "We can't connect right now. Wait a few moments and try again." Of course, even trying again later, the situation didn't fix itself. It's not possible to go back to Windows 10, or use the app store, or most other gadget functions in such cases. We also know that a similar error occurs when resetting the gadget to factory settings, or trying to log in to new, unused devices running Windows Phone 8.1. This once again proves that there are problems on Microsoft's side. At the time of writing the news, the American IT giant has not yet published any official instructions or ways to solve this problem. It's worth adding that until they appear or the final fixes are made, users of working gadgets on Windows Phone 8.1 should refrain from performing a factory reset, and users of the newer mobile OS should wait with the rollback.
