Battle.net is officially renamed Blizzard

27 March 2017
Perhaps no one needs to explain what Battle.net is. Players of World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, Overwatch, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Diablo III regularly use this service. Now, after twenty years of existence, the brand has sunk into oblivion. However, everything is not as bad as it might seem at first glance. We only have to say goodbye to the brand "Battle.net", while the service itself will continue to work in normal mode. Along with the release of the latest update, which received number 1.8.0, only the name of the program has changed. In other respects, all the previously available features are unchanged. The program, as before, allows the user to download, update and run their favorite games from Blizzard Entertainment. The main changes affect the interface. Now, instead of the usual Battle.net icon, in the upper left corner of the program window is the Blizzard logo. Recall that the company announced its intention to abandon the brand Battle.net back in September 2016. For these changes to take effect, users of the service only need to install the appropriate update and restart the client program.
