Twitter will take almost a year to migrate Russian data to servers in our country

Back in 2015, a law came into force requiring IT companies to store personal data on Russian users exclusively on servers located in our country. The social network LinkedIn has already been blocked in Russia for failing to comply with this law. It seems that Twitter will avoid a similar fate.Representatives of the social network finally made an official statement in which they disclosed their position on the question of transferring personal data of Russians to servers in Russia. In a letter sent to Alexander Zharov, the head of Roskomnadzor, they say they are ready to transfer all the data prescribed by law to Russia. At the moment, the company is already in the process of determining the data that needs to be transferred for storage to the territory of the Russian Federation. It is expected that this process will require a lot of time and will be completed only by the middle of 2018. Even though the process will take almost a year, Twitter representatives still expressed their intention to fulfill the requirements of the Russian legislation. Thus, users of this social network do not have to fear its blocking in our country.
