Social networks have become an integral part of the lives of many Internet users. For example, the Russian resource VKontakte recently became the 4th most popular site in the world, according to SimilarWeb. But in the opinion of many people, they do more harm than good, and one of them is the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Zoryan Shkiryak, who recently called to block Russian social networks in the country.According to Shkiryak, "VKontakte" and "Odnoklassniki" are controlled by Russian special services and contain "anti-Ukrainian content" and therefore should be blocked. "2017 should be the year of protection of the information space of Ukraine from Russian propaganda," the minister's advisor added and expressed hope that the Ministry of Education would support this initiative, and teachers and psychologists would start telling children about the harm of the aforementioned social networks.Recall that the first talks about rejection of Russian social networks in Ukraine appeared back in 2014. At the same time, the first Ukrainian social network was launched: "WeUA" to replace "VKontakte" and "Odnoklassniki". A few days later, the social network "Druzy" was launched, and then a number of less popular resources. Despite the efforts of developers and active calls for the transition to domestic social networks, according to September 2016 the most popular social network in Ukraine remained "VKontakte", and the second place was taken by "Odnoklassniki".It is worth adding that the above-mentioned Ukrainian social networks have not survived to this day. Therefore, if the boycott of Russian social networks will still take place, Ukrainians will have to look for alternatives, the most obvious of which is Facebook, which occupies third place in popularity in the country.
