Diskspd is a small, professional utility for testing and evaluating the performance of storage systems. It works with files, logical partitions, hard disks, and SQL servers. It has come to replace another utility, SQLIO, which was discontinued by Microsoft.
The main purpose of Diskspd is to determine the overall performance of a storage device, as well as the I/O operations of an SQL server. Diskspd offers a wide range of parameters to configure the test in the desired way: test duration, block size, target offset, sequential access, etc.
After the test runs, the utility gives you a detailed description of the test and its results. Results are presented in plain text format and contain information about test duration, threshold counter and logical processor counter, etc. It can also be exported into XML format.
The utility has no graphical interface and everything is controlled from the command line.
