A project to create a complete incarnation of the .NET Framework based on free software. Mono includes a C# compiler - dmcs, a .NET runtime - mono (with JIT support) and mint (without JIT support), a debugger, and a number of libraries, including WinForms, ADO.NET and ASP.NET implementations, smcs (for creating Moonlight applications) and vbc (for applications written in VB.NET) compilers. Mono can run modules written in C#, Visual Basic .NET, Java, Boo, Nemerle, Python, JavaScript, Erlang, SmallTalk, Lisp, PHP, and Object Pascal.
