Reverse pendulum Boat is a 3D virtual laboratory work on physics (section: Mechanics).
PURPOSE: Simulation of a laboratory work on general physics.
PURPOSE: To calculate the local free-fall acceleration using a reversible pendulum.
DESCRIPTION: A reversible pendulum is a special form of a physical pendulum. It is able to oscillate relative to one of the two points of suspension and can be adjusted so that the period of oscillation is the same for both of these points. The decrease in length of the pendulum in this case corresponds to the distance between the two points of suspension. This makes it easier to determine the local free-fall acceleration from the period of oscillation and the reduced length of the pendulum. Consistency of the revolving pendulum is achieved by moving the weight between the suspension points, as appropriate, at a time when the larger counterweight beyond this length will remain fixed.
