Sylpheed is a free, lightweight email and news client. Sylpheed provides easy configuration and, at the same time, an abundance of functionality.

Features

Support not only for basic mail protocols like POP3, IMAP4rev1 and SMTP, but also NNTP (NetNews). IPv6, the next generation Internet protocol, is also supported by default.
Optionally, Sylpheed can sign and encrypt messages via GnuPG. Encrypted POP3/IMAP4/NNTP transmission over SSL/TLSv1 is also possible.
Flexible interaction with external commands: it becomes possible to filter existing and newly received messages by other programs. It is also possible to configure message editing in an external program.
