Uplink is a computer game simulating the activities of a hacker. Despite the fantastical environment (unusual units of information - gigacads, computer speeds of 60 GHz, etc.) it is very realistic. Password matching, packet tracing, log removal, penetrating local networks, using anti-detection tools, information destruction devices.
The various tasks provided by a certain hacker corporation are quite varied: from stealing or destroying a file, changing social and criminal database entries, to tracking down other hackers and destroying people and computer systems. The game also has some unusual features, including a built-in IRC function for communicating with other players and a function for playing on multiple monitors
