Facebook intends to drop support for the Groups app as early as the end of summer

07 August 2017
Many Facebook users have probably tried out the Groups app, which saw the light of day back in 2014. Since then, it has undergone a lot of revisions and improvements. Nevertheless, the company's management decided that further support of the product was inexpedient. The Facebook Group team published an appeal to users, in which they announced the imminent closure of the project. According to them, back at the Facebook Community Summit in the early summer of this year, the company presented a new plan for further development. It presupposes the development of new instruments to work with the groups, but within the main Facebook application. Also, representatives of the company warn that it will be impossible to enter Facebook Groups already after August 25, 2017. At the same time, all groups will remain available in the main application. Despite the fact that the refusal to support the service will not lead to the loss of any opportunities for regulars of the social network, many users have expressed dissatisfaction. In their opinion, the main application was already "crowded" with various functions and the refusal to support the Groups can have a negative impact not only on the productivity, but also on the general usability of Facebook. We will find out in a month if users' fears are justified.
