Facebook released an updated, simplified version of Messenger

24 October 2018

The fact that Facebook was working on a new design for the Messenger application became known back in May of this year, at the F8 conference. Back then, representatives of the social network told about users' complaints that the interface of the branded messenger, after the introduction of so many features, had become uncomfortable and cumbersome. Finally, after almost six months, the promised simplified Messenger finally saw the light of day.

As expected, the application got three tabs: Chats, People and Discover. They will be located at the bottom of the screen. On the first of them, quite expectedly, you can find all individual and group chats in chronological order. On the second tab, you can find a list of contacts and their published stories. On the third tab, the developers have put all the rest: games, business contacts and other features that have caused many users to switch to a lighter version of the program - Messenger Lite.

It's worth noting that Facebook did not remove existing features. On the contrary, Messenger has received a number of small innovations. For example, the user can now change the colors of messages for individual chats. Soon, the application will receive a dark design theme.

The corresponding update, on which work has been underway since the beginning of 2018, has already begun to spread. Few lucky people can try out the simplified Facebook Messenger yet, and the update will reach all users of the messenger in the coming weeks.
