The new technology that Google has developed will be similar to AirDrop. The difference will be that it will use Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to transfer files. The technology is called Fast Share. The analog of AirDrop can be used at a fairly close distance.
Note that Android Beam, a feature that was used to transfer data from device to device, is no longer in the updated version of Android. In its place is Fast Share, a technology borrowed from iOS.
With the new function, you can send photos, text and links to websites to all the devices that support Fast Share. You can activate it in the settings of the gadget in the "Share" section. When the function becomes active, it shows all nearby devices that support it. File sharing is done in a few clicks: you need to enter the name of your device, turn on the app, Bluetooth and location detection. Paired smartphones will turn on each other's full-screen file transfer mode. At the same time, experts assure users that malware cannot be transferred this way. The receiving party will have the right to disable the transfer.
Fast Share works with Chromebook and Wear OS, but owners of iOS will need to install a separate app to connect.
Fast Share launch date is not known yet.
