AOL has decided to close its messenger AOL Instant Messenger, which many know as AIM. The doors of the service officially closed on December 15 this year, marking the end of an entire era.Recall that the messenger was launched back in May 1997 and quickly earned popularity among users. Despite the fact that AIM has become the first of the successful messengers, its closure has long been a matter of time. As representatives of AOL, to maintain the project makes no sense anymore, because nowadays users prefer to communicate in social networks, or in more modern messengers. AIM is no longer available on all platforms. It is worth adding, the developers do not intend to offer any replacement for the messenger, which closed after more than 20 years of work.
