WhatsApp representatives announced the extension of support for Android 2.3 until 2020

Last year it was announced that the popular messenger WhatsApp would become unavailable on older mobile operating systems. Indeed, it is no longer possible to use the messenger on devices with iOS below 6, as well as Android 2.2 and below. In this regard, one can understand the concerns of owners of smartphones with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). Nevertheless, representatives of WhatsApp said that they do not intend to give up support for this version of the operating system for several years.

In their official blog, WhatsApp representatives complemented the post about ending support for the outdated OS. According to the developers, Android version 2.3.7 and below will be supported until February 1, 2020. At the same time, some users express the hope that this means the resumption of support for the messenger on Android 2.1 and 2.2, albeit for a small period of time.

In any case, the developers have once again warned that work on new features is carried out only for newer versions of the OS. In this regard, on outdated operating systems, you can not wait for the appearance of the messenger of any interesting features. In addition, some of the old features on such gadgets may stop working at any time.
