In 2018, Russian banks will start using a biometric customer identification system

According to information from RBC portal, as early as next year Russian banks will start to introduce a biometric identification system. Using such system, banks will be able to identify their clients, while clients of the bank will be able to carry out various banking operations remotely. The development of this system was initiated by the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Communications and Mass Communications. The use of biometric identification technology will not be limited to the banking sphere. In the future it will be used in medicine, education, e-commerce and other spheres. According to the published information, the system testing will be finished by the end of this year. And the timing of its final introduction will depend on the readiness of the banks themselves and the legislative framework. The system will use images of the client's face and voice for identification.
