Many people may remember that in the middle of this year WhatsApp messenger became unavailable on a number of outdated devices. These were gadgets running earlier versions of Android up to 2.3, Windows Phone 7, iOS 6, and Nokia Symbian S60. In just a few days, this list will be added to the new mobile OS. WhatsApp developers have confirmed that December 31, 2017 will be the last day of support for the popular messenger on BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10, as well as Windows Phone 8.0. Since the beginning of 2018, users of these operating systems will not be able to create and verify accounts, as well as, at any time, other functions may stop working. To prevent this from happening, users of the messenger on outdated gadgets are recommended to install an operating system update or buy a more modern gadget. It is worth adding that in the case of BlackBerry, we are not talking about smartphones running Android, such as Motion and KEYone. The owners of these gadgets will not face the end of WhatsApp support for a long time. It is known that this wave of withdrawal of support for outdated gadgets will not be the last. Thus, from February 1, 2020, WhatsApp will be unavailable on gadgets with Android 2.3.7.
