Study of standing sound waves 3D virtual laboratory work on physics (section: Mechanics).
Purpose: Simulation of the laboratory work on general physics.
PURPOSE: Excitation and measurement of standing sound waves in a Kundt tube.
SUMMARY: Sound waves in gases are longitudinal. The group velocity of the wave is equal to the phase velocity. In this experiment, a standing wave is excited in a Kundt tube closed at both ends. The dependence of the fundamental frequency on the length of the tube is measured, and the frequencies of the fundamental vibrations and overtones for a fixed length of the tube are also measured.
