Torsion pendulum Field 3D virtual laboratory work on physics (section: Mechanics).
PURPOSE: Simulation of the laboratory work on general physics.
PURPOSE: Measurement and analysis of simple harmonic torsional oscillations.
DESCRIPTION: The Wheel of the Field, or the torsion pendulum, allows the study of a simple harmonic torsional oscillation. The only forces acting on the wheel are the return torque produced by the coil spring and the decaying torque produced by the vortex current brake with adjustable amperage. This experience demonstrates that the period of oscillation does not depend on the initial deviation from the equilibrium position or the initial velocity and allows us to analyze the amplitudes of oscillations.
