OBJECTIVE: Determination of the moment of inertia of a horizontal rod with additional weights attached.
DESCRIPTION: The moment of inertia of a body relative to its axis of rotation depends on the distribution of its weight relative to the axis. This relationship is investigated for the case of a horizontal rod to which two additional weights are attached symmetrically about its axis of rotation. The rod is connected to a torsion spring, and the period of its oscillations increases as its moment of inertia increases, which is determined by the additional bars and their distance from the axis.
