PEiD Tab

PEiD Tab is a free utility that extends the capabilities of Windows Explorer by adding the PE file investigation function, allowing you to know the compiler and therefore the programming language used when writing the program, packer or cryptor. The packer is detected by a signature search. The current version can detect 3720 different signatures in PE files.

Custom signatures can also be added. It is possible to disassemble a file. The disadvantage is that you can bypass the search algorithm for its signatures and it will not find the correct signature. Using the utility is very easy - after you install PEiD Tab you should right click on the desired file (shortcut, application, DLL or other executable file), choose "Properties" from the drop down menu, and go to the PEiD ("PE iDentifier") tab.
