Warzone 2100 is a real-time military strategy game originally developed by Pumpkin Studios and released in 1999 by Eidos Interactive on CD under a proprietary commercial license for Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Windows.
The game has three-dimensional graphics, and you can zoom in, zoom out, and rotate the camera. The developer of the graphics engine is Sam Kerbeck of Eidos. The landscape is a grid; vehicles tilt when moving over hilly terrain and projectiles cannot traverse high mountains.
Vehicles of different factions are painted in different colors. New Paradigm, Collective, and Nexus troops are enemies of the Project in campaign mode; they continuously attack the player's troops along with the Scavengers, the survivors of nuclear war.
In campaign mode, each new campaign adds a new territory to those already known. The game contains a total of three campaigns.
The game is set at the end of the 21st century, in a post-apocalyptic world. The player acts on behalf of the character known as Commander, that is one of the survivors of atomic catastrophe. He, along with a group of associates, will have to rebuild the world destroyed by the catastrophe. They call themselves The Project.
Mobile mortars fire on enemy fortifications.
At the beginning of the campaign, three groups called Alpha, Beta and Gamma are created. Each is sent to a different area of action in order to collect artifacts that can help the explorers recover their lost knowledge. Along the way, the player gains access to more and more advanced technology. Gameplay is inextricably linked to research in special research laboratories.
