BX Language acquisition

BX Language acquisition is a program designed to help you memorize the spelling and pronunciation of foreign words.

Word learning is based on the accumulation of statistics of your answers to the program tasks. For each correctly completed task you get a certain number of points. You will lose points if you make a mistake. Each subsequent exercise will be dominated by the tasks with the lowest score, a certain number of new tasks, as well as repetition of what you have learned. When a certain number of points have been accumulated, the task is considered conditionally learned. Conditional learned words are offered for repetition according to the Ebbinghaus method. You can set up a point system and a repetition system for learned material.

The program allows you to memorize the spelling and pronunciation of foreign words both in question-answer and dictation mode. To listen to the pronunciation of words and phrases, you can connect libraries of sound files, directories with sound files, and speech synthesizers to the program. The program allows you to create video vocabularies based on subtitles from movies and AVI video files. The program allows you to create text exercises in three levels of complexity: by composing sentences of included words, or by selecting words or parts of words from a list of right and wrong choices; by typing missing words or parts of words in a sentence; by typing whole sentences from the keyboard. You can use these methods to memorize text sentences as part of dialogs.

The program enables you to compile new dictionaries with tasks manually or automatically on the basis of frequency analysis of the text. You can also create dictionaries with the help of any text editor in WIN/Unicode encoding. This version of the program supports dictionaries in 46 languages: Russian, English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Bulgarian, Czech, Finnish, Kazakh, Tajik, Belarusian, Ukrainian, Swedish, Lithuanian, Albanian, Arabic, Armenian, Azeri, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Greek, Georgian, Hebrew, Hungarian, Croatian, Indian, Japanese, Kyrgyz, Latvian, Mongolian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbian, Slovak, Thai, Turkmen, Uzbek, Vietnamese and Korean.

You can also connect dictionaries in other languages to the program, but some of the program's features will be limited.
